What is copywriting actually all about? In general terms, the success of copywriting is measured by consumer action. Only when a product is purchased at the end of the day can the work be considered a success. Here are 5 tips on how to best implement copywriting so that YOU can see these results too.

1. Research - What does your target audience want?

‍

Copywriting requires research and empathy

Before writing an effective ad, you need to do your research. Now is the time to find and filter out as much information about the product and your target audience as possible. But where do you get all this information? It's simple: from comments, reviews, and feedback. Step by step, you can figure out who your target audience is and how to convince them of your product.

‍

You can use these questions for your research:

‍

  • Why do customers buy from you?
  • What is being posted in the comments under your images on social media channels?
  • What kind of relationship do your customers have with your product?
  • Why might customers be dissatisfied?
  • What do your people perhaps not like at all?
  • What is particularly important to them?
  • Which terms are searched for most on your website?

‍

The same game works with your competition. You can use these exact same questions to take a closer look at your competitors. It also doesn't hurt to check Amazon and see what is being said in the reviews for similar products.

‍

The better you understand your target audience and know what they really want, the better your ads will be.

2. Data-driven content

Now it's time to use the data you've gathered to create compelling and relevant content. Use your findings and insights to write what your customers want to hear.

‍

  • Thousands of satisfied customers
  • Free shipping
  • Free returns
  • Premium quality
  • Fair & sustainably produced
  • Love at first sight...

‍

In our experience, a carousel works particularly well as an ad format here. With images and information/USPs in the description, the added value your potential customers get from your product is clearly and concisely explained. We want to sell our products. This means that sometimes we have to move away from aesthetics and stop writing only what we think sounds nice.

3. Write mobile-optimized headlines

Even though it's obvious to most, it bears repeating: write mobile-optimized headlines. Nowadays, most traffic comes from mobile devices. This means: keep your headlines short.

‍

4. Keep it simple

Many are likely already familiar with the KISS principle. In short: Keep it simple, stupid. Be precise in your statements and calls to action. Make it as easy as possible for customers to understand the value they get from your product or ad.

‍

5. Test, test, test

As with most articles, our final tip is: test, test, test... Of course, it's not enough to just create one piece of copy. Naturally, you need to test different options and versions. The more often and more precisely you do this, the sooner you will identify two or three versions of copy that work best for you and your product. The goal is to be able to use these repeatedly in your campaigns.

‍

Conclusion

Baking? Sometimes that’s exactly what running ads is like...

In the end, all the ingredients have to be just right to get the result you’re looking for—in our case, conversions. The right target audience, the right placement, the right offer, the perfect image, and the right message—everything must be set up to ensure we achieve the highest possible conversion rate with our ad. We hope this article has helped you get a big step closer to that goal.
